What to bring

Our adventures are in the Great Bear rainforest and mornings can be foggy, cool, and damp. We suggest a comfortable pair of rain boots, a warm fleece jacket, sweat pants, or light long underwear, warm socks, toque, gloves, hat, sunglasses, motion sickness remedy, camera, comfy and rain gear.

Getting to Base Camp

Shearwater/Donkey Cove/Rivers Inlet

Shearwater is approximately 500 kilometres (300 miles) north of Vancouver on Denny Island. Because we are centrally located on the west coast of BC, we can offer fishing at many different locations including Seaforth Channel, Milbanke Sound, Hakai Pass, Cultus Sound, Calvert Island, and many more.

Denny Island
There are a few different ways to get to Denny Island from the mainland:

  1. Pacific Coastal Airlines has flights from Vancouver to Bella Bella, 3 km (less than 2 miles) from Shearwater, twice daily during the summer.
  2. Tweedsmuir Air offers flights from Nimpo Lake direct to us and or direct to Shearwater.
  3. BC Ferries also offers service to both Bella Bella and Shearwater from Bella Coola and Port Hardy.
  4. Bella Bella is 3 km (less than 2 miles) from Shearwater – a 5 minute trip by boat. We can pick you up from Bella Bella or arrange other transportation for you if you would prefer that

Rivers Inlet

Rivers Inlet Is a sportsman”s paradise; the trip into Rivers Inlet begins in Port Hardy with a short twenty-five-minute floatplane ride via Wilderness Air. A quick meal and off fishing we go. If you want to take fish home, an extra seat for your party may be required as there is a fifty pound per person weight restriction.
